Assistant Professor, Nutrition and Dietetics - Louisiana Tech University

Position: The School of Human Ecology at Louisiana Tech University seeks energetic, innovative and dynamic candidates to fill a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to serve the BS and MS programs in Nutrition and Dietetics. The starting date is negotiable, March 1, 2017 or September 1, 2017. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to recruit, advise and mentor students; teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels using traditional and electronic delivery formats; develop a personal research agenda; direct BS and MS student research projects; participate in professional, university and community outreach/service; and support the missions of the School, College and University.

Qualifications: PhD in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (if terminal degree is in a related area, completion of at least 18 hours graduate credit in Nutrition and Dietetics courses is required; ABD may apply but must have degree conferred by start date.); Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential and eligibility for licensure in the state of Louisiana are required. Practitioner experience, evidence of effective teaching and research/publication record are desirable, but not required. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is mandatory prior to start date.

The Programs, School and College: Nutrition and Dietetics programs are administratively housed in the School of Human Ecology, one of five academic units in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences. Nutrition and Dietetics programs include the BS, with two concentrations: the RD concentration which is accredited by ACEND and the non- RD concentration; an ACEND-accredited dietetic internship; a 15-hour graduate certificate in Dietetics; and a MS program that includes both a thesis and non-thesis option. Current enrollment is approximately 65 undergraduate students, 16 dietetic interns and 45 graduate students. The School of Human Ecology also includes a BS in Family
and Child Studies and a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies, has a total enrollment of approximately 270 students, and is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Other academic units in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences include the School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry; the School of Biological Sciences; the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management; and the Division of Nursing.
