Assistant or Associate Professor: Nutrition and Dietetics

The School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences invite resumes for a full-time, nine month, tenure-track position. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: Teach professional level undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and foods; develop a research program in the discipline and secure external grants; advise undergraduate students; participate in curriculum development; collaborate with faculty on research and creative scholarship activities; serve on departmental, school, and university committees, and participate in other academic functions.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate (at the time of appointment) from an accredited university in human nutrition and foods, dietetics, or closely related field. A Master's degree in one of the above areas is required. Demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate courses related to nutrition and food science; experience with student advising and mentoring; strong technology skills; grant writing and research; effective communication skills to include written communication; and effective interpersonal skills required. Candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference: Post-doctoral experience, teaching experience at the undergraduate level, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist status, record of securing internally and/or externally funded grants, active participation in relevant professional organizations, and evidence of professional service.

Department: The Department offers a Bachelor's degree in Human Ecology with concentration in the following areas: Child Development, Dietetics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Fashion Merchandising, and Nutrition. The department participates in the Agricultural Sciences MD degree program with emphasis on Food and Nutrition. There are thirteen full-time faculty members and just over 200 undergraduate students in the department. The main department is located on the 2nd floor of the Richard A. Henson Center. The Child and Family Development Center, a lab school which supports the Child Development undergraduate program provides daycare for children ages six weeks through school age is located in the early Childhood Research Center Building.

Location: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is an 1890 Land-Grant Institution in the University System of Maryland. The campus is located in the town of Princess Anne, 13 miles south of Salisbury. The University is accessible to major Metropolitan areas of Baltimore City and Washington, D.C. to Northwest and Philadelphia to the North. All are approximately 2 ½ hours drive. Ocean City and other resort areas on the Atlantic Ocean are within 30 minutes.
