School of Nutrition and Dietetics
The University of Akron
The University of Akron is accepting applications for a Tenure track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level in the School of Nutrition and Dietetics in the newly formed College of Health Professions.

We seek a research scholar with an interdisciplinary approach and expertise in applied and translational research in nutrition as it relates to wellness, prevention, chronic health conditions or clinical nutrition.  The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate across disciplines and institutions to assist in building the technical, skill and funding base for a vibrant, collaborative research agenda within the School of Nutrition and Dietetics.  The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate research activities and be involved in ongoing grant activities. Candidates will be expected to assist in program development and evaluation, grantwriting, student advising, and to engage in professional, departmental and university activities.

A Doctorate in Nutrition or closely related field, and the Registered Dietitian credential.  ABDs meeting the other criteria may be considered, with completion required by hiring date.  Evidence of effective research and teaching is required, as well as a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations.  Academic rank will be assigned according to previous teaching/research experience.

Statewide Family Finance Extension Assistant Professor position in Utah

This is a .75 fte, 12-month, tenure track Family Finance Extension position which is anticipated to begin as soon as possible or by July 1, 2012. The person in this position will provide leadership in bringing family finance resources to county Extension faculty members throughout the state of Utah and will require travel and flexible hours. This position is at the assistant professor level and this person will be a member of the Family, Consumer, and Human Development Department.  

Responsibilities

1. Develop and provide research-based information, in-service training, and educational resources to county Extension faculty throughout the state to strengthen family and consumer finance programming to people in their local communities
2. Demonstrate scholarship appropriate for an Extension faculty member, including procurement of external funding and scholarly publications
3. Work closely with various multi-agency project teams, Extension campus and off-campus professionals, and internal and external stakeholders

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidates will be expected to teach on campus and on-line courses as required for the CFP core curriculum in the Personal Financial Planning B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and graduate certificate programs. In addition, the successful candidates will (a) chair and serve on M.S. and doctoral committees; (b) conduct and publish research in refereed scholarly journals related to family and consumer financial behavior and related personal financial planning and financial therapy topics; (c) advise and mentor graduate and/or undergraduate students; (d) obtain external grant funding; (e) be available for August intensive doctoral on-campus courses; and (f) provide service to the unit, school, college and university.

C. C. WHEELER ENDOWED PROFESSOR

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Bradley University is seeking applications and nominations to fill the of the C. C. Wheeler Endowed Professor position beginning August 20, 2012 Established from the generous gift by Cecelia Chesko Wheeler (Home Economics, 1942), the endowed professorship promotes excellence in scholarship and teaching. The University is seeking a nationally-recognized scholar of distinction who will bring a well developed research agenda in an FCS related field.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences includes six undergraduate majors: Dietetics, Nutrition and Wellness, Retail Merchandising, FCS Education, Hospitality Leadership, and General FCS, as well as a post baccalaureate Dietetic Internship. The department maintains a core curriculum built upon the founding principles of the field of family and consumer sciences. We are seeking an individual with outstanding leadership in research in one of the above areas. This position will consist primarily of research with some teaching assignments. The ideal candidate will have experience in research and teaching as well as outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
